Welcome
"San Juan" farm was born towards the end of the 19th Century, when Mr. Juan Harriet and his family, coming from the Basque-French country, settled in this territory after having stayed for a while in the Republic of Uruguay.
Mr. Juan Harriet was searching for a territory suitable for cattle-raising and he found this land, recently taken away from the Indigenous people, ideal for this purpose. At the very beginning, he raised cattle acting as a tenant. In this way, he started his activities and he achieved a significant evolution together with this struggling country, which was taking its first steps. This hard struggle allowed him and his family to buy those lands thanks to their hard work, which in turn took them to go over the Argentinean Patagonia to make cattle-raising and farming businesses.
Once he became the owner of those lands, Mr. Juan Harriet decided to build the current farmhouse of the "San Juan" farm, in 1903. This farmhouse is the one we can currently appreciate, with some small modifications. Nowadays, it belongs to the family's fourth generation: Mr. Juan's great-grandchildren.
